Celebrate love and heart health at the annual Fishers Heart Hike! This family-friendly, self-led community hike takes participants through the beautiful trails of Ritchey Woods. Along the way, hikers will discover hidden images of heart shapes in nature and learn heart-healthy tips from the Fishers Health Department. It’s a morning of fresh air, community connection, and wellness.
We are looking for 9 energetic and friendly volunteers to serve as Event Ambassadors. You will be the face of the Heart Hike, ensuring every visitor feels welcome and stays on the right path.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome & Orientation: Greet hikers as they arrive. Provide a warm welcome, explain the event activities, and direct them to the start of the trail.
- The "Selfie" Squad: Encourage hikers to stop and capture a memory! You’ll assist participants with a special Heart Hike photo frame, offering to take photos for families and groups to share on social media.
- Trail Wayfinding: Be stationed at key points along the trail to ensure hikers are heading in the right direction and to answer any basic questions about the nature preserve.
- Community Interaction: Engage with hikers of all ages, share a bit of "heart" cheer, and remind them to keep an eye out for the naturally occurring heart shapes hidden in the woods.
Qualifications:
- Outgoing, friendly, and comfortable talking to the public.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the 2-hour shift.
- Willingness to work outdoors (please dress for the weather!).
- A passion for community health and nature.
