Fishers Youth Initiative (FYI) ensures that every young person in our community has the opportunity and support to build a positive future by connecting them with a network of compassionate volunteers and programs.
What We Do
In 2025, Youth Mentoring Intiaitive and Fishers Youth Assistance Program merged to create Fishers Youth Initiative as a more comprehensive way to support youth in Fishers.
YMI was created in 2008 (first as Community First Initiative) by Darren Heil as a way to bring the community around the local school district to create specialized mentor programs to meet the social and emotional needs of students. With limited resources and small counseling departments, schools and students benefit from community volunteers getting involved and playing a role in the growth and development of students.
FYAP was established in 2014 to serve the needs of children in the Hamilton Southeastern School District.
