City of Fishers Open Gym Volunteer

Fishers Parks and the Fishers Health Department are partnering with Fishers Junior High School to offer a Sunday Open Gym, providing community members with a welcoming space to stay active during the winter months. We’re looking for volunteers to help make each Open Gym session safe, organized, and enjoyable for participants.

When: Sundays, November 1–March 28

Open Gym Hours: 1–5 p.m.

Location: Fishers Junior High School

Volunteer Responsibilities Depending on the shift selected, volunteers may help with:

• Setting up and taking down equipment Loading and unloading equipment and supplies
• Welcoming and assisting participants
• Supporting participant check-in and check-out
• Monitoring activity areas and helping supervise participants
• Encouraging safe and appropriate use of equipment and shared spaces
• Assisting City staff as needed throughout the session

No special experience is required—just a willingness to help and create a positive experience for participants.

Available Shifts

• 12:30–1:30 p.m. — Setup Help staff prepare the gym and equipment before participants arrive
• 12:30–2:45 p.m. — Setup + Open Gym Help with setup and assist during the first portion of Open Gym
• 2:30–5 p.m. — Open Gym + Teardown Assist participants during Open Gym and begin cleanup at closing
• 4:30–5:30 p.m. — Teardown Help staff clean up, organize equipment, and return the space to its original setup

Age Requirement: Volunteers under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
