Geist Half Marathon – Packet Pickup Volunteer Opportunities

Join the Geist Half Marathon team and help support packet pickup for race participants. Volunteers play an important role in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for runners.

Friday First Shift Volunteers Assist with event setup, including:

Setting up tables, signage, and materials Organizing race packets, shirts, and participant items Preparing the packet pickup area for participants Lifting and moving tables and supplies as neededA meal will be provided

Friday Second and Third Shift Volunteers Support packet pickup operations by:

Assisting participants with locating and receiving their race packets Distributing shirts and other event materials Providing general customer service and directions Helping maintain an organized and efficient flow of participantsA meal will be provided

Saturday Volunteers Provide support during peak packet pickup and event wrap-up by:

Assisting participants with packet distribution Answering questions and directing participants as needed

Geist Half Marathon – Parking Support Volunteer

Join the Geist Half Marathon volunteer team and help ensure safe and organized parking for VIP participants and fellow volunteers.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Monitor designated VIP and volunteer parking lots Help direct vehicles to the appropriate parking areas Check for VIP and volunteer placards for lot access Provide general guidance and support to participants and volunteers arriving onsite

Additional Information:

Designated parking areas will be clearly marked VIP participants and volunteers will have placards for easy identification Safety vests will be provided Volunteers should be comfortable standing outdoors and assisting with traffic flow

This role is essential in creating a smooth arrival experience and supporting overall event operations.

Geist Half Marathon – Race Day Support Volunteer

Join the Geist Half Marathon volunteer team and help create a positive and welcoming experience for runners from start to finish.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Assist runners before the race by helping them find their assigned corrals Answer participant questions and provide general directions Support finish line operations by distributing medals, water, and snacks to participants Help ensure a smooth and encouraging race day experience

Additional Information:

Great opportunity for families and community groups Volunteers must be age 12 or older Volunteers should be comfortable standing and engaging with participants for extended periods Training and direction will be provided on-site

This is a fun and rewarding way to support runners and be part of an exciting community event.

Be part of the action and help power one of the most exciting race days in the community. As a Course Marshal, you’re not just a volunteer—you’re the hype crew, the guide, and the reason runners keep pushing to the finish line. You’ll be stationed along the course making sure everything runs smoothly, safely, and with big energy. Think high-fives, loud cheers, ringing cowbells, and even music as runners pass by—you set the vibe.

What You’ll Do:

Keep runners on track and moving in the right direction Help create a safe race environment at key points along the course Bring the energy—cheer, clap, ring cowbells, and motivate every runner who passes Optional: bring a speaker and play music to keep the excitement high and encourage participants

What You Need:

Must be 18 years or older Be on-site by 7:00 AM sharp (before road closures begin) Attend a quick, flexible training at Grace Church (Olio Road) on Friday, September 11, anytime between 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
