Things to Know Before You Come:

What to wear: Clothes you don't mind getting dirty; pants and boots or closed-toe shoes are strongly encouraged.

What's provided: Gloves and masks will be available for all Volunteers. But if you have your own or a favorite pair bring them!

Training: Every shift begins with a training session at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds before teams head to their assigned locations.

A Quick Health Reminder: Check Your Tetanus Shot Confirm your tetanus booster is current before your shift. Disaster Emergency Clean-up has unknown threats that could cause serious puncture wounds. If your last booster was more than 5–10 years ago, please get an updated one before heading out. Stay safe while you serve!

Help welcome guests and performers to Blues Fest! We are seeking volunteers to assist with ADA and artist parking on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.

Volunteers will be stationed at the entrance to the ADA parking lot, which also serves as artist parking. This is an important role that helps ensure reserved parking remains available for guests with accessibility needs and Blues Fest performers.

The Fishers Health Department (FHD) is seeking volunteers to assist with the FHD booth at the Fishers Farmers Market.  Volunteers will assist with set up, tear down, help man the booth by providing materials and resources to shoppers. Ranked one of the top farmers’ markets in the region, the Fishers Farmers’ Market showcases vendors from Central Indiana that offer fresh produce, baked goods, honey, specialty food items, meats, cheeses, coffee, plants, and much more! Juried to the strictest standards, the market is a destination for fresh, local, flavorful foods direct from farmers and producers. Volunteers must be 14 years old or older. Thank you.

Help us kick off race morning at the Geist Race Series on Saturday, September 12! We are seeking friendly, organized volunteers to assist at the Will Call Tent before the races begin.

Volunteer Shift Saturday, September 12 6:30–7:30 a.m.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Will Call Tent volunteers will assist race staff with race packet distribution for participants picking up their materials on race morning.

This is a short, early-morning volunteer opportunity that plays an important role in helping participants get where they need to be before the start of the race. Volunteers should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with the public, and standing for the duration of the one-hour shift.

We need YOUR help to make sure sack lunches are supplied for our guests. Sack lunches typically supplement our hot meals and are a huge help to our Kitchen Staff! This is a great way to help Wheeler Mission offsite!

What goes in the Sack Lunch?: Lunches should include

We DO have the ability to refrigerate so things like string cheese would be great, too. Please prepare in a brown lunch sack with the date listed on the outside of the bag in Sharpie marker.

This opportunity is off-site, not at a Wheeler Mission facility. We prefer lunches to be prepared in a commercial kitchen. If that is not possible, we ask that you strongly follow the guidelines listed below:

Where should I bring the lunches?: You can bring them to the Men's Residential Center @ 245 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46204. The drop-off entrance is accessible from the alley between the building and the small parking lot. Follow the donation signs! Park near the back doors, ring the doorbell and Staff will assist you in unloading your vehicle.

When should I bring the lunches?: You'll sign up for a shift that's from 9 am-10 am, but that's just a placeholder! You can bring them any time between 9 am-5 pm.

What if I can only provide some of what's requested?: If you are able to bring at least half, please sign up for the shift as usual. If you can bring less than half, please plan to come, but leave the shift open for others to sign up, too!

Where can I find a commercial kitchen? Most local churches have a commercial kitchen! If you don't have access to one, reach out to a Volunteer Engagement Manager to use our kitchen.

Enjoy a fun weekend activity fellowshipping with men in long-term programs at our Men's Residential Center. Recreation Time volunteers plan an activity or two (like board games, Bingo, or minute-to-win-it type activities), bring supplies (and snacks!), and then host a time of fellowship for the men!

Partner with Wheeler Mission by providing a meal through the Share A Meal program! You will have the opportunity to purchase, provide, prepare, and serve the meal to our 80 guests + residents. This is a great way to feed the troops and support the Kitchen Staff! This opportunity allows families or groups (up to 25) to work together to create a special event by providing a unique menu and experience. For this shift, we will create a sign-up sheet prior to your scheduled arrival, and you will come with all the supplies to cut hair for the men residing at our Shelter for Men. Depending on the duration of your stay and your speed you could cut between 5-20 heads during your shift. We are open to most days and times and are happy to work around your availability. For Meal Service volunteer tasks may include rolling silverware, pouring drinks, plating food, or handing out trays. You will have the opportunity to interact with Staff and Guests in a meaningful way. This is a great way to show care and compassion for those we serve! Meal Service shifts are available 365 days a year: Lunch Service (11: 30 AM -1 PM) and Dinner Service (4:30 PM-6 PM). We have 8 slots available for each shift.

You will be serving lunch/dinner to 100-250 men depending on the time of year. Meal Service is the Wheeler Mission's greatest volunteer need.

Would you like an ongoing volunteer opportunity that will foster relationships and connect with the youth of Hamilton Southeastern Schools? We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are available to assist with 5th grade STEM Activities at the Maker Playground Tuesdays - Fridays from 9:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.  Due to the nature of this opportunity, we are asking volunteers to commit to at least one day a week through the end of the school year.  Tours will not occur during school breaks. Please do not respond to this opportunity if you are not able to volunteer once a week.

In collaboration with Hamilton Southeastern Schools, the Maker Playground is offering an experiential and project-based curriculum for all 5th grade students. 

Modeled after the successful and popular Nature First program at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve, the program features study trips to the Maker Playground, where students are immersed in the workshop and work collaboratively to solve real-world problems.

The goal is to bridge the gap between education and industry, where students can begin thinking about how making as part of building their future career.

Geist Half Marathon – Gear Check Volunteer Join the Geist Half Marathon volunteer team and help provide a smooth and organized gear check experience for participants.

Join Fishers Parks for one of the most colorful events of the year! Glow in the Park returns to the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater (NPD AMP) on Saturday, September 26, featuring a family-friendly glow celebration from 6–8 p.m., a changeover from 8–9 p.m., and a 21+ Glow Party from 9–11 p.m.

We're looking for 30 enthusiastic volunteers to help make this high-energy event a success.

Location: Fishers Maker Playground

Help make the Power Tool Petting Zoo a safe, welcoming, and fun experience for participants! This hands-on event gives attendees the opportunity to explore power tools in a supervised environment at the Maker Playground.

Each year, a top builder, designer, architect, and landscaper come together to showcase the latest trends in residential design, while supporting a community nonprofit. This year's showcase takes place at The Reverie, a stunning $11M luxury estate in Zionsville's gated Holliday Farms community.

Your support and every ticket sold directly support the residents of the Morning Light home. 

Volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming experience for tour guests inside this extraordinary home. 

Volunteers will...

Guide & Assist: Stationed throughout the home, volunteers answer general questions and provide gentle direction as guests navigate the layout. 

Maintain Tour Experience: Politely remind guests of tour guidelines as needed to ensure the home and furniture are preserved for the new homeowner.

Fishers Parks and the Fishers Health Department are partnering with Fishers Junior High School to offer a Sunday Open Gym, providing community members with a welcoming space to stay active during the winter months. To foster connections and support among various Fishers organizations, businesses, and residents in our community, the City of Fishers hosts a monthly Mayor's Breakfast event. This gathering takes place in the theater at Fishers Municipal Center, 1 Municipal Drive. 

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with setup, attendee check-in, and tear-down. Volunteers should be comfortable using a computer and able to work efficiently. Breakfast will be provided.

Would you like an ongoing volunteer opportunity that will foster relationships and connect with Fishers youth? We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are available to assist with student local government study trips at the new Fishers Municipal Complex. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to multiple volunteer days, ideally once a week or every other week, to provide consistency for students throughout the program

Volunteers will assist with navigating students to their proper location, keep our presenters on time, guide students through activities, distribute supplies, and help answer general questions. Training will be provided.

The City of Fishers is seeking volunteers to support our community as we respond to and recover from the current flooding emergency. At this time, volunteers should not report to flooded neighborhoods or attempt to provide assistance on their own. Floodwaters and impacted areas may present serious hazards.

The City is currently building a roster of volunteers who are ready to help once affected areas have been assessed and cleared for safe volunteer activity. As needs are identified, registered volunteers may be contacted to assist with flood recovery efforts throughout the Fishers community.

The Community Hospital North Auxiliary is a subset of Volunteer Services operated by a Board of Directors and the Volunteer Manager. Its purpose is to work with established vendors to host fundraisers on the Community Hospital North Campus. Vendors give a percentage of proceeds back to the Auxiliary used for special projects and equipment on the North Campus. 

We are looking for volunteers to assist during fundraisers with the employee payroll deduction process. Some comfort with technology would be needed. However, it is not difficult to learn. 

We are also looking for those who might be interested in serving on the Auxiliary Board. 

Volunteer applicants would be required to complete all necessary hospital onboarding processes (online application, interview, orientation, health screening, background check). 

Fundraisers occur during business hours on various weekdays (M-F 8a-4p). Shifts are typically 4 hours in length.

We require a time commitment of at least 6 months.

Tidying Teens volunteers help keep the library tidy, which may include dusting shelves, straightening books, notifying staff of problem areas, and other tasks. Volunteers do not shelve books. Shifts will be available at both the Fishers Library and the Noblesville Library.

Pet therapy in hospice uses trained animals  to provide comfort, stress reduction, and companionship to terminally ill patients.

Volunteer with the Fishers Health Department during the International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day event on Saturday, November 21 from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Fishers City Hall Theater. Volunteers will assist with set up, signing in guests, greeting guests, supporting guests in an art activity, and helping cleanup. 

The Come to Me Food Pantry is seeking the following food pantry donations:

Donations can be dropped off to Come to Me Food Pantry at 11488 Ikea Way, Fishers, Indiana. The pantry is located behind the Fishers United Methodist Church in a small building facing Ikea Way.  Donations can be dropped off 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Our volunteers offer patience, kindness and companionship to patients and their families in hopes of peace and understanding. Volunteers donate their time and efforts in a wide variety of ways, such as reading to, talking with, writing a letter for the patient or give a family member a little time off from the role of primary caregiver.

Volunteers may also be asked to provide office support to our business team. Tasks may include handling phone calls, making copies, attending memorial services and helping with a variety of special events or projects. Many of our volunteers have benefited from hospice care personally during a loved one’s serious illness, and they want to help families facing the same difficult time. Others are simply compassionate individuals who want to give themselves in a very special way. Our hospice volunteers often work directly with patients and families, providing compassion, companionship, and emotional support. In many cases, the hospice volunteer becomes a true and trusted friend to a patient and family.

"Help A Neighbor" is a community-driven initiative in Fishers that connects neighbors who need support with volunteers eager to assist. The volunteer projects available are simple, meaningful tasks that can be completed by individuals, families, or groups—no specialized tools, advanced skills, or significant time commitments required.

Brooke’s Place Ongoing Support Groups rely on about 200 volunteers who directly serve our children and families. These generous gifts of time and compassion allow us to address the critical needs of grieving young people and their families.

Facilitators companion grieving youth in a peer-based grief support group setting. They listen without judgement, introduce activities, and facilitate peer connections so that participants feel less alone in the midst of their grief. No counseling background is required, just a heart for children and those who are grieving.

Front Desk Assistants play a crucial frontline role at Wheeler Mission—Bloomington in ensuring that our neighbors experiencing homelessness have a safe, and welcoming environment. Volunteers assist staff with guest check-in, provide hospitality, support basic shelter operations, and help maintain a calm and respectful environment within our Emergency Shelter Services building.

This is one of the most impactful volunteer opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

This opportunity entails serving lunch to our neighbors at a designated site in Noblesville every Friday. We will serve at one site for approximately 2 hours.

Turn Your Volunteer Hours into Recognition             

If you’re a Fishers student in junior high or high school, the Mayor’s Youth Service Award is your chance to get recognized for giving back to the community.  By volunteering with nonprofits and community partners, you can earn awards, build leadership experience and make a real impact in Fishers.

How It Works

1. Create your account through Volunteer Fishers if you don’t already have one.

2. Sign up for the Mayor’s Youth Service Award program.

We’re excited to welcome new volunteers to support NAMI in the Lobby at Riley Hospital for Children! By sharing mental health resources, personal lived experiences, and offering a compassionate listening ear, our volunteers make a powerful impact. But we can’t do it alone-we need your help!

If you or someone you know is a loved one of an individual with mental illness, this is a great opportunity to give back & help other families.

Through comprehensive training and the power of lived experience, our volunteers provide active listening, empathy, and support as families and individuals navigate their mental health journeys. Volunteers are asked to complete an application, a NAMI Indiana screening call, complete 8 hours of hybrid training, and fulfill a background check.

The City of Fishers is looking for enthusiastic Tour Ambassadors to lead local Girl Scout and Scouts of America (BSA) troops through the Fishers Municipal Complex. As a Tour Ambassador, you will serve as the primary host for visiting scouts as they explore the inner workings of local government. You will help them navigate City Hall, the Fishers Art Center, and the Police and Fire Departments, ensuring they have an educational and memorable experience while working toward badges in public safety, first aid, and citizenship.

You will have the opportunity to purchase and prepare or cater a meal to our guests experiencing homelessness and hunger. This opportunity allows families or groups to work together to create a special event by providing a unique menu and experience. Share-a-Meal hosts have many different options: prepare and cook a meal in a commercial kitchen, cater the meal, provide tablecloths and centerpieces, include notes with each tray, and even possibly provide dinner entertainment/music.
